AIFindTool · MobileBeta
On your phone,
search SMS and photos.
One search box, one timeline. Type what you remember and SMS messages, photo content and text inside screenshots come back together, ordered by date. The models ship inside the APK. Fully offline, nothing uploaded.
What it does
Search SMS
Search by meaning, not just keywords. “银行扣款” (bank debit) finds the credit-card debit notice.
Search photos by content
“sunset at the beach”, “cat”: search by what is in the picture, no file name or date needed.
Search text in screenshots
Text in screenshots, invoices and ticket photos is recognised, so “发票” (invoice) or “火车票” (train ticket) finds them.
Try searching (the app is Chinese-first, these are the example queries):
SMS and photos share one search box. Results are grouped by day, newest first.
Privacy: it stays on the phone
The three models used (text understanding, image understanding, Chinese text recognition) are packaged in the APK and run on the phone. AIFindTool's own code does not go online and does not upload your SMS, photos or queries. The index lives in the app's private storage and is deleted when you uninstall.
Why it asks for permissions:
- Read SMS (READ_SMS): required to read the inbox and build the SMS index.
- Read photos (“Photos and videos” on Android 13+, “Storage” on older versions): required to read your pictures and index them by content and by the text inside.
Both only apply after you tap Allow; deny one and that kind of search is unavailable. Technical note: the APK manifest also contains network-related permissions. They are declared by the bundled text-recognition component (Google ML Kit); AIFindTool's code does not use the network.
Requirements
- Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer.
- A 64-bit ARM processor (arm64-v8a), which covers most phones from recent years. This build has no x86 or 32-bit version.
- Storage: about 250 MB for the APK. On first launch the models are copied into app storage, so keep roughly another 250 MB free, plus room for the index.
How to install (not from an app store)
- Tap the download button above in your phone's browser to get the ~250 MB APK (Wi-Fi recommended).
- Open the file. Android will say installing from unknown sources is blocked. Tap Settings and allow “Install unknown apps” for that browser or file manager.
- Go back and tap Install. Android or a security app may warn about an “unverified app” or “risk”, because it is not from a store. To check the file, compare the SHA-256 above.
- Open the app, allow SMS and photo access, wait for the first index to finish, then search.
Beta limitations
- Call-log search is not available yet.
- The first index can be slow, more so with many photos. Do it on charge and Wi-Fi and leave the phone alone. We have no measured speed numbers on real phones yet.
- No iOS version: Apple does not let apps read SMS or call logs.
- Not on any app store yet; manual APK install only.
- This is the first beta. Expect rough edges; ranking is still being tuned.
- The interface and the search models are Chinese-first for now. Searching SMS or photo text in other languages has not been tested and may work poorly.
FAQ
Are my SMS and photos uploaded?
No. AIFindTool's code does not use the network; recognition and search run on the phone.
Do I need internet?
No. The models are in the APK, so it works offline after install.
Why is the APK so big?
The AI models (text and image understanding, about 215 MB quantised in total, plus a text-recognition component) are bundled so the first run needs no download.
Why does it say “unknown source”?
Because it is not installed from an app store. The package is signed with our own certificate; use the SHA-256 to check the download is intact.
Can it search WeChat or QQ chats?
No. For now it only reads system SMS and pictures in your gallery.
Is there an iPhone version?
No, and it is hard to build: iOS does not let apps read SMS or call logs.
How do I uninstall / delete the index?
Uninstall like any app; the index goes with it.
Where do I report problems?
Leave a note via the “enterprise trial” form on the main page, or contact PandaWM.
