Since mid-2025, anyone running securities and investment ads that reach people in India on Meta – including global campaigns – must verify who benefits from and who pays for the ads. Meta’s announcement (26 June 2025) says advertisers provide their SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) registration, or, if exempt, use identity or business verification. The verified details appear on the ad. This guide summarizes the official requirements.

1. Key requirements
| Item | What Meta says |
|---|---|
| Scope | Securities and investments ads delivered to India, including global campaigns |
| Verify | Beneficiary and payer via SEBI registration, or alternative identity/business verification if exempt |
| Disclosure | Disclaimer with name and SEBI number (if applicable); visible on ads and up to 7 years in the Ad Library |
| Timing | Enforced as early as 28 July 2025 depending on when you become eligible |
| Existing ads | Active ads published before 28 July 2025 need no edits if the account is verified |
2. Two steps
- Verify beneficiary and payer in a supported ad tool or proactively in Meta Business Suite > Authorizations and verifications.
- Select the verified entities to disclose: set a default in Ads Manager or per ad set; API users pass regional_regulated_categories and regional_regulation_identities.

3. Notes for agencies
Meta recommends that advertisers complete verification themselves, since it may involve business documents or a one-time passcode to an email on the client’s web domain, and clients should keep at least partial access to the accounts running ads for them. The verified party must be the real beneficiary and payer.
4. Related
Online gambling cannot be authorized for India on Meta (see the policy). For Google’s separate India process and country rules see India ads policy guide and our Chinese article Facebook印度证券户.
5. FAQ
5.1 Do I need SEBI registration?
Advertisers promoting securities and investments are asked for SEBI registration information; exempt advertisers can choose other verification. If you are neither registered nor exempt, do not run these ads.
5.2 Can my agency use its own SEBI details?
No. The disclosure names the verified beneficiary and payer, which must be the real parties.
