Meta’s own wording is clear: you may not promote prescription drugs without Meta’s authorization, and only online pharmacies, telehealth providers and pharmaceutical manufacturers are eligible. There is no channel to “buy” an account — authorization is tied to a licensed entity, a country and specific ad accounts, and stays valid only while LegitScript certification or regulatory registration does.

1. Four hard requirements
| Condition | Meta rule |
|---|---|
| Countries | Audiences in the United States, Canada or New Zealand only |
| Country match | Only countries where you are certified (LegitScript) |
| Age | 18 and older |
| Other policies | All other ad policies still apply |
2. Eligibility by business type
| Type | Official definition (summary) | Prerequisite |
|---|---|---|
| Online pharmacy | Delivers, distributes or dispenses prescription drugs over the internet | Valid LegitScript certification first |
| Telehealth provider | Provides online health services such as prescriptions via telecommunication | Valid LegitScript certification first |
| Pharmaceutical manufacturer | Manufactures, compounds, processes, packages, repackages or labels prescription drugs | Meta internal review or valid LegitScript certification |
3. Application steps
Route A: LegitScript (pharmacies, telehealth, manufacturers)
- In Meta Business Suite open Authorizations and verifications, click View details next to “Prescription drugs ads”, then Request authorization.
- Choose the target country (you need LegitScript certification there) and your business type.
- Select “Verify using LegitScript” and enter the certified website; an uncertified or poor-standing URL blocks the next step.
- Enter the business name, select ad accounts, review and submit; Meta shows the result immediately.
Route B: Meta internal review (manufacturers only)
- Choose the country and “Pharmaceutical Manufacturer”.
- Select “Verify using the business details”.
- Business name and address must match the manufacturer’s licence or registration (e.g. FDA registration).
- Add website and email, select ad accounts; in the US state whether you are a Drug Labeler, Drug Sponsor or Private Label Distributor.
- Meta reviews, usually within 48 business hours, sometimes longer.
4. After approval
Maintain valid LegitScript certification or regulatory registration, otherwise authorization can be revoked. Share authorization to other ad accounts in the same business portfolio with “apply existing authorizations to an additional ad account”. No authorization is needed for educational, advocacy or public-interest prescription drug content, or for generally promoting telehealth services. Allowed examples listed by Meta (non-exhaustive) include showing prices, offering delivery, sales-oriented calls to action and sharing efficacy information — other ad policies still apply. Ads for unapproved drugs and “research” peptides can never be authorized; see why peptide and compounded GLP-1 ads are not allowed.
5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
5.1 Can I advertise prescription drugs in China, Southeast Asia or Europe?
No. Meta only allows prescription drug ads to audiences in the United States, Canada or New Zealand.
5.2 Do all telehealth ads need authorization?
No. Generally promoting telehealth services does not; promoting prescription drugs does.
5.3 Is approval permanent?
No. Expired certification or registration, or policy violations, can lead to revocation.

PandaWM is a Hong Kong-based agency helping licensed, compliant businesses outside mainland China open official Meta, Google and TikTok ad accounts, prepare authorization and verification applications, and manage campaigns. We do not sell, rent or transfer ad accounts, and we do not offer cloaking or any way around platform review. Authorization and verification are tied to the legal entity and specific ad accounts; policies are governed by the platforms. Telegram: t.me/PANDA0134 or pandawm.com.
